Pulling the trigger w/ EV-America

Wow - I’m really impressed with EV America.  They’ve been great about working with me (actually talking!) to get my order right.  I’m not trying for anything fancy, I just want to get the basic system working so I can drive.  We’ve got the final parts list so it’s just a matter of handling payment.

The cost for the DC system (including batteries) will be 50% of my AC system quotes.  If I went w/ the Siemen’s system, it would be closer to 35%!  After sleeping on it, I’m certain sure that AC is not justified for what I’m trying to accomplish on this first conversion.

Some of the details that I’ve worked out include:

1. 144 Volt system using flooded 12 Trojan cells.
2. Target range is 30 miles.  Using 18 batteries did not add much except weight.
3. 6 (or 7) of the batteries will be mounted under the car in the axle well.
4. 110 volt charger instead of 220.  I can add the 220 later for garage charging.
