I’ve ordered a “Mister Two” power steering pump for the RAVolt. Now that the motor insertion is imminent, I want all my components together so I can start finding homes for all the pieces that have to go under the hood.

Should I test the motor before I put it in? Is a jumper to regular 12
volt battery enough to give it a little spin?

I “tested” my Warp13 because I was curious to see what it would do on only
12 volts. As it turned out, it spun pretty fast. With Nick’s Cherokee (based on a 9″ motor), we used a single battery to creep the vehicle into the garage once.Speaking more practically, this might be a good opportunity to see how well-seated your brushes are. It may be necessary and/or just a good idea to idle the motor on low voltage for a while to let the brushes seat themselves before the motor sees real duty.
