Well hung - traction wire conduit in place

Today I hung the cable conduit (really 3″ PVC drain pipe) under the RAVolt. The pipe uses regular galvanized plumbers hanger and attaches to the heat shield screws. The left photo (self taken) shows the view from the front to the back.  The 2 main hangers are right above my chest.  The pipe also hangs at the end.  The right photo shows the view to the front. I used a zip strip for the non weight bearing link to the old exhaust pipe vibration mount.

It’s hard to see in the pictures, but I also drilled drain holes along the pipe and in the elbows.  The drain holes are important because water will accumulate in the pipe without them.
Drain Holes

Easy vs. Hard - I choose easy

EV America’s design pattern suggested that the 2/0 traction cable should be encased in a 1″ PVC tube. The reason for the extra insulation is to provide additional protection against shorting. Shorting the traction batteries would result in a fire (or worse).

The tube needs drain holes so water does not collect in them. Also wire lube helps the wire slide into the tube. Unfortunately, I choose 7/8″ tube and the fit was too tight (left photo). My solution was to split the tube (right photo). This satisfied the extra insulation requirement and was much less effort.  Now I just need to find a use for all that extra lube.
