Guages?! We don’t need no stinking gauges!

Here is the promised photo of my volt and ammeter gauges. This is not the finally assembly, but it will give you a feel for the look. They are a little out of the way from the driver’s line of sight, but fit very cleanly into the console. I won’t pretend that they look “natural” because they scream street modification to me.

I was very pleased with the Westech gages. They came with everything I needed to do a very clean installation including different color filters for the back light. I did not expect to use all the mounting parts that they included and was pleasantly surprised to find that they’d given me exactly what I needed.
Gauges roughed in

The coolest (coolest to me) aspect of this location is that I can use the back light power from the cigarette lighter to light the gages. This may not sound like a big deal, but it will make a different when the batteries are low and it’s night time.

Weaving the control board wires

Tonight I brought together all the main control board components. I screwed down the controller, contactors, fuse, and ammeter shunt. I also figured out that I could use the U bolts and turn buckles to secure the board to the mid battery box. That will require a photo once the board is installed.

High power control board

Alex and I were able to get all the connecting wires cut, crimped, and sealed! I’m including step by step photos, but here is the finished product:
