That’s was I get for trying to show off. Laura and I were on the way to a show when the taxed auxiliary battery finally said “enough.” Unfortunately, its version of “enough” is to turn off all the relays and contactors so that the car won’t go. On top of that fun, it was sunny (gasp!) and about 100 degrees out.
The RAVolt limped 1/4 mile halfway home and then died half way up the last hill to our house. That left me backing down the hill without brakes while Laura starting walking home. So much for our fun date. Luckily, a neighbor drove by “rescued” us from the walk home.
We made it to the show on time, but not without some EV scar tissue (or scare tissue). Note to self: do not assume the car is working fine after tinkering without a test drive!
On a technical note: the root cause problem was my missing DC-DC converter. The RAVolt’s been purring since I got that working and topped off the auxiliary battery charge.
