Hummer Hyperbole

<rant>I love to use Hummers as my yard stick to measure the RAVolt. I score my gas off-set in “Hummer Fill-ups” and like to Hummer bait in traffic. Over the summer my family and I were playing “spot the Hummer” until it became just too easy. All this Hummering got me wondering why they provoke such a primal reaction as the ultimate symbol of American wastefulness. After all, there are plenty of other gas hogs on the road.

Basically, Hummers give everyone a license to waste. Every Automaker on the planet can produce gas guzzlers and monsters SUV with a clear conscious because, after all, they are not as bad as a Hummer. Consumers grab the same pathetic excuse.

The difference really does matter over the lifetime of these cars! If you drive a Hummer 100k miles then a10% improvement will be 1,250 gallons of gas (or nearly $4k or 52 Hummer fill-ups)</rant>
