I was appalled to see Gas 2.0 repeat this total garbage about CO2 spewing air travel being less polluting than driving. Duh - there is more fuel used by cars so they generate more CO2. It’s CO2 per passenger-mile that matters. Idiots.
If you want to pollute less then take a train.

The RAVolt was causing slow traffic conditions in West Lake as the RAVolt reminded me that flooded Pb batteries do not like to charge in the cold. I’m better at nursing the batteries, but those are some very long hills to climb. It was quite an adventure.
My slow boat ride was also observed - Laura and I were out gorging that night at Sullivan’s Steak House (yes, I do eat red meat) and a friend sauntered up to our table to tease me about my “speeding problem.” At least Alex was not out pushing!

Oxford University Press has selected the word “hypermile” as this word of the year. While I’m excited to see so much enthusiasm for saving gas, I’m a little troubled about the popular emergence of the term.

Not easily. That’s the topic I explore on my TribalGrid blog today.
Even driving an electric car, I’ve only reduced my gas use by about 50%. That number would jump to 100% if my range was 100 miles instead of 20. I think our family would eliminate the backup gas car if my EV had a 100 mile range (and heat, A/C, and power steering).

And my son turns 11. Coincidence? Yep.

It’s been a disappointing weekend. T. Boone Pickens talk on Sunday was disappointing (see my comments) and I got laid off today. Since I’m not interested in natural gas, Boone’s not my next meal ticket. I’m open to suggestions!
Luckily, the RAVolt is not disappointing me! I’ve nearly reached 151,000 miles and, even with sub $3 gas, she’s still a much cheaper ride than my Volvo.
